Kitten in Airplane by State Historical Society of North Dakota on Flickr. Photograph by Nancy Hendrickson, undated.
More about Nancy:
Nancy Christenson Hendrickson was born February 26, 1886, and was the 6th child of Swedish immigrants. She was the first to be born on the family homestead along the Heart River near Mandan. Nancy attended school classes during the winter, but learned mostly from the many magazines her family subscribed to. In the 1920s, responsibility for the homestead fell to Nancy as her mother fell ill. She worked as a seamstress and engaged in animal photography. Many of her photos won awards and were sold in newspapers and magazines.

One of my all-time favorites of anything. I’ve posted this before and will probably post it again someday.

“Paree the Flying Cat,” 1910. From Shorpy:
In 1910, on the first airplane flight across the English Channel to carry a passenger, American aviator John Moisant flew from Paris to London accompanied by both his mechanic and his cat, named either Mademoiselle Fifi or Paree, depending on which newspaper you believe.
